Passion for Action is developing a high school facility climate calculator in partnership with the Sierra Youth Coalition and Clean Air Champions for pilot testing with the Toronto and Ottawa School Districts.
The calculator will become a key component of the High School Climate Change Challenge, a new project launching in 2009 as a pilot in 7 - 10 schools in Ontario (Ottawa and Greater Toronto Area regions) focuses on high school youth (grades 9 - 12). This project's main purpose is to education, inspire and engage youth leaders to conduct energy audits at their school with the goal of significantly reducing institutional greenhouse gas emissions.
HSCC is a joint project of Clean Air Champions (CAC) and Sierra Youth Coalition and had the potential to expand nationally in high schools across Canada. Toronto District School Board (EcoSchools is also involved in program design and delivery in the Toronto region.
